ESU1808 v2.9.53 for Windows with firmware v1.0.8

This driver update is required if you are using ESU1808 under Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows 7/8 32-bit or Windows 7/8 64-bit and also strongly recommended for Windows XP and Windows Vista 32-bit. Please note that using this driver might require you to upgrade the firmware of your ESU1808, especially if you have used a driver older than v2.9.15 before. This firmware update only has to be done once on every unit. This description is devided into three sections:

1. installation of new driver under Windows Vista or Windows 7/8
2. installation of new driver under Windows XP
3. firmware update (required)

As mentioned, the firmware update is only required once even if you install the driver again. It should be done directly after the driver installation.

1. installation of new driver under Windows Vista or Windows 7/8

Before the actual installation, download and unzip the driver file. Make sure that ESU1808 is not connected to your computer before you install the driver. Then launch setup.exe from the unzipped folder. When launching the installation, Windows Vista or Windows 7/8 might prompt a security message. Make sure to allow the installation. You will then see a dialog as shown on the following picture.

Click Next. You can define the target directory for the installation in the following dialog.

Confirm it with Next. The installer now informs you that the driver installation will start as shown below.

Confirm this with Next. During the following process you will see a Windows Security dialog box that asks you for confirmation to install the driver software that looks like this:

Confirm any such dialog with Install even if it gets displayed multiple times. You will then be prompted to connect the hardware in the dialog shown below.

Plug in ESU1808 and switch it on but do not click OK yet. Instead, wait a few seconds for the automatic device driver installation. You can monitor this in the task notification area where Windows Vista or Windows 7 usually informs that the driver is installed via a bubble message box.

Once Windows shows no further messages, the installation is finished and you can start using ESU1808 in your applications or proceed with the firmware update if not done already.

2. installation of new driver under Windows XP

Before the actual installation, download and unzip the driver file. Make sure that ESU1808 is not connected to your computer before you install the driver. Then launch setup.exe from the unzipped folder. You will then see a dialog as shown on the following picture.

3. firmware update

After the driver has been installed, it is required to update the firmware. Note that this is needed only once, i.e. if you install the ESU1808 driver again later or if you install the hardware on a different computer, you do not have to update the firmware again. To start the process, launch the firmware updater FWUpdate_ESU1808_1.08.exe from the Firmware subfolder of the unzipped driver file. The following window will appear:

Please check the version number of the Current firmware that is installed. If it is version is lower than 1.0.8, you need to click the write firmware button. If it is version number is 1.0.8 or even higher, please click Exit and you're done. The update to version 1.0.8 will take a few seconds.
